Kahului Airport (IATA code: OGG - ICAO code: PHOG) is located in Kahului on the island of Maui. It is the sixty-second largest airport in North America with over 5.1 million passengers in 20091
Prior to the opening of the current Kahului Airport in 1952, Maalaea Airport was the first airport on the island of Maui to receive the first flight on November 11, 1929, when a Sikorsky S-38 flew from Honolulu to Maui2. Maui later saw Puunene Airport in the 1940s, serving the U.S. Navy as a base after the attack on Pearl Harbor. On May 25, 1951, the Hawaii Aeronautics Commission decided to move all commercial flights from Puunene to Kahului2. Commercial flights began in June 19522.
